Rev. Berry Hudson is the Director of Insight Ministries. He has 17 years of pastoral counseling experience. Prior to beginning a counseling and training ministry in Augusta in 2009, he served as Pastor of Community Life for Two Rivers Presbyterian in Charleston, SC. He also served with Reformed University Fellowship in Tennessee and South Carolina. Berry received his B.A. in History from Wheaton College in Illinois and his Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO. Berry has also been trained in biblical counseling through the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation in Glenside, PA. He is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America. He and his wife, Rachel, have one son, Todd.
Julie Phillips joined the Insight Counseling staff in June of 2013. Julie interned with Insight under Berry Hudson’s supervision since March of 2012. She received an MA in Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Formation from Columbia International University and is currently working toward her certification with CCEF (Christian Counseling Educational Foundation). Julie is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), has completed certification in Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect and is accredited as a Prepare and Enrich Marriage Facilitator. Julie has been involved in mentoring ministry and has informally counseled women both inside and outside the church for over twenty years. Her passion is to see women flourish in the complexities of life and she has a deep appreciation for the transforming power of the Scriptures in the care of souls. She and her husband live in Aiken and have three grown children and two grandchildren. Julie’s husband, Mike, is on staff at First Presbyterian Church as Pastoral Associate. In addition to her role as a counselor, pastor’s wife and mother, Julie loves growing plants that bloom, reading Jane Austen novels, taking mission trips to Haiti, and rediscovering the simplicity of life with her two young grandchildren.
Susan Waldren is an Independent Counseling Associate for Insight Ministries in Mt Pleasant, SC. Prior to her formal affiliation with Insight she counseled under the mentorship of Reverend Berry Hudson, founder and president of Insight Ministries, for 3 years. She received her BA degree in Psychology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and her MSSW (Master of Science in Social Work) from the University of Texas at Arlington. While living in Dallas, Susan worked in inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment centers. More recently she was trained as a Biblical Counselor through CCEF (Christian Counseling Education Foundation) which is affiliated with Westminster Theological Seminary in Glenside, PA. She completed 3 certificate levels with CCEF: Introduction, Advanced, and Counseling Apologetics. Susan and her husband John have been married for 30 years and have 4 young adult children.
